As we rapidly approach the start of a new school year in Upshur County, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you. This is an exciting time of year not only for the students but the faculty and staff. A lot of work has gone into maintenance of the schools and beautifying the grounds, as well as, the many hours of training, planning, and preparation that the teachers have done leading up to the start of the 2012-2013 school year.
Education is the avenue and the key to success for students in all stages of life. However, it is a joint effort between teacher, student, and parent to equip the students with the knowledge and motivation which will ensure that each student achieves success. Our teachers, with the support of the parents, offer the motivation and instruction within the classroom which can instill that desire for success and instill a desire for life-long learning. Along with the parents' support and the student dedication, each student can and will achieve the highest level of success during their lifetime.
We must not forget the work of those who support the educational process in other ways. Without those individuals who serve in the roles of service personnel, PTO members, maintenance personnel, and administrators, as well as community supporters, our schools would not be able to provide the environment for the students to learn and prepare for the future. Allow me at this point to say "Thank You!" to all these individuals for the support and dedication you give to the students of Upshur County.
As the excitement fades, our goal is still and will always be to prepare and motivate each student to succeed in whatever endeavor they choose!
